Wanderlust ist eines der schönsten und meistunterschätzten Alben dieses Jahres. Was innerhalb der Szene einheitlich Zustimmung erhielt, ist außerhalb dessen (noch) unterrepräsentiert. Der Erste, der nun Sandboy in Richtung der Fusion-Floors bringt, ist 4Lux-Labelhead Gerd, der bsb in sein derzeit so geliebtes West-London-Gewand hüllt. Butterweich! Herzerwärmend zeigen sich zudem wieder mal Break Reform, die im Stile von Zero 7 herzliche Besinnung verbreiten und den Kreis der Szenesternchen schließen. Zu guter letzt kommt Sandboy mit seinem Instrumental von The Hike. Schneebesen-Sahne-Kontrabass-Downbeat-Jazz, der mich berührt, wie es zuletzt Kaos’ Renegades EP auf Compost tat. Simple beauties!

Focussing on the perfect tones of Nice Ferreira who litteraly drives the mix, Rotterdam's hotshot and remix expert Gerd creates an uptempo stormer with new synths hooks and a pulsating groove that makes it an irresistible uplifting number.
Drifting away from the dancefloor to the sofa, the love declaration of ‘written in the leaves’ beautifully sung by Nanar Vorperian sees the jazz core of the rhythmic section of Munich's Thomas Simmerl turn into a lazy-hop groove. Simon & JJ of London's Break Reform (favourites of Jazzanova & Gilles Peterson) have crafted a very sober and tasty rerub of this special torch song for a new millennium.
Already considered as a classic by several connoisseurs since its release on the first hinterland EP, the bewitching atmosphere of ‘the hike’, personified on the album by Nuyorican Marishka Phillips is here offered as a raw beauty in the form of an instrumental. As provocative and charming than the first time you contemplate the naked grace of the woman you love, the track seems even more powerful and complex than before.
More than a remix EP, these great reinterpretations brought me closer to the originals  and gave me the smooth taste that only great songs can provide: emotional & timeless.
